Report #16, August 3, 2016

Hooray, Green Party Representative!
You did it! Jill Stein is on the PA ballot because of you. Fifteen Representatives from the Green Party of Philadelphia (GPOP) turned in 1,391 signatures nominating Jill Stein for President. (More on that below.)
This report will bring you up to date on what has happened since Report #15, which you received on July 2.

Task: Organize Campaign Workers
On August 1, Green Party officers submitted the signatures of 21,713 Pennsylvania voters nominating Jill Stein for President of the U.S. Of that total, 1,391 signatures were collected by 15 Philadelphia Green Party Representatives, averaging 93 signatures per Representative. Here is a signature-count breakdown: triple digits from Charles, Chris R., Judy and Beverly; double digits from Bernadette Marie, James, Ernest, Vivek, Hillary, Mike, Belinda, Yakov, and Chris D.; and single digits from Melissa and Joan. Every signature you collected was important in getting Jill Stein on the ballot.
Since my last report, the following new Green Party Representatives have joined our campaign: Erik and Detrice Nicole (Fern Rock), Frank (Point Breeze), Joan (Germantown), and Khummit (Wynnefield). Thank you all for your interest in the Green Party. We now have 26 Green Party Representatives.

Task: Build an Infrastructure to Win Elections
For the last two months, five Green Party Representatives have been planning ways to spread the word about the Green Party and our candidate, Jill Stein. They have discussed door-to-door publicity, tabling on campuses, public events and telephone calls. Members attending the GPOP General Membership Meeting on July 20 approved the formation of an Outreach Working Group. If you would like to become a member of the new Outreach Working Group, its next meeting will take place at 7:00 pm on Thursday, August 18. Please contact me for the location.

Task: Recruit Green Party Candidates
This task has been on hold, given the other Green Party Representatives’ attention to collecting signatures on our nominating petitions and other support for Green Party candidates.

Thank you so much for all you have done as a Green Party Representative.
It is Good to be Green,
Chris Robinson, 215-843-4256
Membership Secretary
Green Party of Philadelphia

PS: Members of the GPOP EOW Group are called “Green Party Representatives.” According to a motion approved by the GPOP membership on September 30, 2015, the EOW Group has three tasks: “recruiting Green Party candidates who will campaign for office; organizing people to work on those campaigns; and building an infrastructure that will be able to win electoral campaigns.”
