Green Party Endorses House Bill 1994 to Outlaw Juvenile Life Sentences without Parole

  • Eight other states already ban juvenile life sentences without parole
  • Pennsylvania has highest number of juveniles serving life sentences without parole in nation

Last night, the Steering Committee of the Green Party of Pennsylvania votes to endorse PA House Bill 1994 to outlaw juvenile life sentences without parole.  This comes as a follow-up to its earlier call for an investigation into the privatization of juvenile detention facilities (  Eight other States have already prohibited the sentencing of minors without parole, including Alaska, Colorado, Kansas, Kentucky, Maine, New Mexico, New York and West Virginia in addition to the District of Columbia.  With House Bill 1994, Pennsylvania could add its proud name to this growing list.

Help put the Green Party on the Pennsylvania Ballot

Register Today as a Green Party member!

With new ballot access legislation pending in the Pennsylvania Senate (Voters Choice Act SB 252), the opportunity to have progressive non-corporate candidates on the ballot couldn’t be greater.
We Need Your Help
The Green Party of Philadelphia is actively signing up new Green registered voters. It’s as simple as filling out a voter registration form, checking “Other” and then writing in “Green Party” in the party designation section of the form. Some forms may already have “Green” as a party designation…if that’s the case, simply check the “Green” box. If you are changing your voter registration from a previous party or independent, you should also check the box on the form for “Change of Party”.
Your completed voter registration form should be sent to your county election office…addresses are listed on the voter registration form.
If you need a form, have any questions, or would like to volunteer for the Green Voter Registration Campaign, please contact:
