I. Campaign Reports

Mike Rosenberg, Candidate for State Rep, 188th District:

Mike spoke about his campaign. He's been doing lots of door knocking and
some fundraising.

Three events this Sat., Sept 30:

12:00 - 2:00 PM, Mike and Carl Romanelli will cut the ribbon for the new
GPOP office 4134 Lancaster Ave. This office will also serve as Mike's
campaign headquarters.

2:00 - 4:00 PM, Mike and Carl will attend the Cedar Park festival (Baltimore
Ave betw. 49th and 50th ). Carl may visit Rittenhouse Square from 4:00 -
6:00 PM.

6:00-8:00 PM, house party for Mike at his home, 219 S. 46th Street.

On Thurs, 9/28/06, from 6-8 PM, Mike will be at the anti-violence festival
at Malcolm X Park, 52nd and Pine Sts.

On Thurs, 9/28/06, 8:00 PM, at Abbraccio Restaurant, 47th and Warrington,
the West Philly branch of Neighborhood Networks will vote to endorse a State
Rep candidate in the 188th district. If you're are a West Philly NN member,
please show up to vote to endorse Mike. Your dues must be paid in order to
vote.

Justin asked Mike if he had connections to the black community, anarchists,
and IWW. Mike responded that he has done organizing with these groups and
has been involved in the neighborhood. The door-knocking in the 60th ward,
which is mostly black, has been very positive. Mike's goal is to win in the
60th Ward.

Mike was interviewed by Comcast for the Newsmakers program. We don't know
when the program will be aired.

Traci Confer, Candidate for State Rep, 174th District:

Traci's campaign manager Charles Sherrouse said Traci has been heavily
involved in defending the signatures on Carl's petitions. Her campaign will
now start doing literature drops and making phone calls. She is still using
literature from the special election and is gearing up for a new print run.

Dave Baker, Candidate for U.S. Congress, 2nd District:

Charles Sherrouse reported that Dave has promised to work in Mike
Rosenberg's district the last 5 weeks of the campaign.

Dave is also working to help Jennaro Pullano in a special election for
Reading City Council.

Michael Berg, Candidate for US House Congress from the State of Delaware:

Isabelle reported that Mike Berg will have a fundraiser this Sunday, Oct 1,
2 PM, at the 11 East Café in Glassboro, NJ. Isabelle asked if any of the
Philadelphia candidates would be able to attend. Charles said Traci might
be able to go. The address of the café is 11 E. High St, Glassboro, NJ.

II. Signature Challenge Lawsuit

Charles reported that for 6 weeks, nine Greens and Democrats along with
lawyers have been in the review room in Harrisburg. The hearing today
addressed the uncertainty of 40,000 signatures. A lot of people didn't come
up in the SURE system because of data gaps. Hillary heard news reports today
that Carl lost the signature challenge by about 8,000 signatures. We had
over 59,000 valid signatures, the most collected by any third party in
Pennsylvania history.

Supreme Court hearing on Thursday 9/28/06 in Harrisburg on whether the state
used the right election to determine how many signatures would be needed.
Carl filed a motion asking the courts to find that the state erred in using
the 2004 election instead of using the 2005 judicial retention election to
determine the number of signatures we needed. There is another independent
candidate who, along with Green candidates for governor and lt. governor,
might file for leave to reinstate nominating papers if the Supreme Court
rules in our favor.

Hillary motioned we mount a write-in campaign for Carl in Philadelphia,
which was seconded. Alex suggested that this be done in divisions where we
don't already have candidates on the ballot.

Joe asked about the effect of Dave Baker's garnering 2% of the vote. Mike R.
replied that it would allow us to retain ballot status for candidates
running in Philadelphia County races, but it wouldn't help us with statewide
ballot status.

III. Upcoming State Meeting

The next Green Party of Pennsylvania meeting is Sun, Nov. 19, in Carlisle,
PA. In 2007, meetings will be held on the second Sunday of every other
month, except in May, when it will be the 3rd Sunday. State party will be
taking nominations for state party offices at the November meeting. If
anyone is interested or would like to nominate someone, please let someone
on the city committee know. Isabelle said it would be good to have a woman
for chair next year since we had a man this year.

One agenda item is to organize a new Green Party. Any GPOP member wishing to
have issues raised at the state meeting please bring these up at the next
GPOP general membership meeting or notify one of the delegates.

IV. Opt-Out

Charles said that Matt Sullivan and the Temple University Greens did go to
some high schools to pass out forms. The forms are for students or their
parents to opt out of the requirement that school administrators give
military recruiters student name and address information. Matt will be
providing a report soon on how many schools they went to and how many forms
they distributed.

Joe mentioned another campaign that has students sign no-kill pledges. This
would assist students in establishing conscientious objector status.

V. Voter Registration Events

Matt not present to give a report. There had been two events in planning
stage. We're not aware of the status of either event.

VI. Treasurer's Report and Fundraising

Alex reported the amount of our bank balance and noted the bills that have
been paid. He reminded us the new GPOP office is going to mean rent every
month. We need to do more fundraising. Alex is working on developing a list
of donors and is working on a solicitation letter. Alex also has GPOP
t-shirts for sale.

Hillary mentioned that some people might not be willing to give to
candidates but might support individual efforts.

Isabelle asked if this December we would have a year end celebration and
fundraiser as we did last year. Hillary is willing to be a co-lead for
planning. We need another co-lead to work with Hillary. We will save the
date of December 10th. Alex would like to advertise the event; but since
this expense is not in the budget it needs to go before the membership at
next month's meeting.

Many Greens have been working to put on the Philly Beyond Oil 2006
Conference, October 14, at the Friends Meeting House, 4th & Arch Sts, 8:30 -
4:00 PM. Katie suggested this event would be a great place to advertise the
December fundraiser. Hillary will make up a flyer.

Mike and Hillary talked about reviving the fundraising dinners at Singapore
Restaurant. If someone has a good idea for a dinner speaker, please let
Hillary know.

Justin mentioned that Robin's Book Store supports progressive causes and
would likely make space available if we needed it.

Isabelle asked if GPOP could pay for printing the Transit Working Group's
research paper, "Getting Around Philadelphia." Alex said we need an estimate
of the cost. Hillary said it would be good to have 20 copies of "Getting
Around Philadelphia" for the Philly Beyond Oil 2006 Conference. The City
committee will have to make a decision on this next week.

VII. Website Maintenance

Christina suggested that we consider switching our web hosting and
maintenance to another company to improve the appearance of the site;
improve our fundraising; and make it easier for volunteers to post items.
She will ask get a proposal from a company she knows.

VIII. City Committee Vacancies

We have vacancies for at-large member, chair, and if the current recording
secretary steps up to chair, recording secretary.

IX. Other Business

The Camden County Green Party is starting an environmental campaign. It
entails going to mayors in NJ to ask them to support reduction of gas
emissions. For more information, send email to ccgreenparty@hotmail.com.

Can someone who attended the Media Tank event check the program booklet to
see if they printed the GPOP ad?

Spread the word about the Philly Beyond Oil 2006 Conference, October 14, at
the Friends Meeting House, 4th & Arch Sts, 8:30 - 4:00 PM. Agenda and
registration available online at: www.FossilFreePhilly.org. Registration
fee with lunch is $35; without lunch $20.

Membership Working Group will meet tomorrow, 9/26/06, 7 PM, in Ward 9.

Help is needed at the LAVA space, 4134 Lancaster Ave. The whole second floor
needs to be cleared of trash and debris. The GPOP office needs carpeting.
Size of floor space is 9x8; Isabelle said she has an area rug that can be
used for the opening. This Wednesday, an artist is doing casting of navels;
anyone interested should email Mike Rosenberg.

Justin questioned why the Green Party is so small here compared to Europe.
Someone replied that the Parliamentary systems play a big role. Good topic
for future discussion.
